Richard and Judy Book Club's profile

The Richard and Judy Book Club launched in September 2010 and their Children’s Book Club in January 2011. Around two million copies of Richard and Judy WHSmith book club titles have been sold to date.

Following an overwhelming response from readers when it launched in autumn 2010, the Richard and Judy Book Club, broke WHSmith records when it’s first recommendation, Sister by Rosamund Lupton made Number 1 paperback and became the fast selling title by a debut author in WHSmith’s 200-year history; while all eight of the review titles went into the top 12 paperbacks in their first week of sales with close to a million copies sold overall. The Postmistress by Sarah Blake from the second Book Club went straight into the Number Two paperback position.

They are currently coming to the end of their Summer Book Club, the third Book Club to date and as a result of its huge sales and critical success, WHSmith has confirmed a five-year deal with Richard and Judy which will see them continue to launch Book Clubs instore and online until 2015.

Alongside the Summer Book Club, and for the first time, Richard and Judy have released exclusive podcasts available on iTunes to accompany each book promoted in store. The Richard and Judy Book Club Podcast is available each fortnight and feature exclusive interviews with each author as well as fascinating facts about the author and an exclusive half price offer.

The Podcasts are in addition to the existing online reviews available at whsmith.co.uk/richardandjudy, which appear alongside their live exclusive interviews with each author.
