JOB DESCRIPTION

Plank PR is a communications agency specialising in the publicity of production companies, television programmes and presenters.

We are trusted suppliers of publicity that delivers and communicates key messages effectively and responsibly.

Over the past eleven years, we have built up a range of clients we are very proud of. This includes independent producers, broadcasters, presenters and events including The Edinburgh Television Festival.

Plank PR has an established and experienced team of publicists offering a completely comprehensive service. We are looking for a talented, honest, hard-working, reliable and kind person to join our team as an Assistant Publicist.

ASSISTANT PUBLICIST  

The role of Assistant Publicist at Plank PR involves the following duties:

Liaising weekly with TV previewers and reviewers on the week’s programme priorities.
Building relationships with TV listings magazines and the TV pages of weekly magazines for inclusion of programme information and previews.
Updating the Plank PR website weekly.
Where necessary, producing programme information material.
Coordinating Social Media activity across @PlankPR and expand activity into Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Dealing with regional PR requests across all programmes. This could range from MasterChef (BBC One) to Tattoo Fixers (E4) and The Circle (Channel 4).
Liaising with broadcasters on clip requests and preview viewing material.
Providing efficient administrative support to the press and publicity team.
Dealing with general enquiries from journalists via phone, email and face-to-face.
Scanning weekly coverage of TV Listings magazines, previews in national print media and any coverage secured by Plank PR team.
Attending and supporting external meetings and events when necessary which could include press launches, screenings and press events, managing guest lists and looking after talent. 
Supporting the team in creatively promoting content and programmes – coming up with ideas and helping to implement them as part of a targeted publicity strategy.
Captioning and sending pictures where necessary and occasional attendance at photographic shoots.

A successful candidate will have a love of television and media in general, enjoy watching, talking about and reading about television programmes. They will have relevant experience in working in an office and be conversant in using the full MS Office suite and key Social Media platforms; they will have excellent written and verbal communications, strong organisational and practical skills, a keen attitude and willingness to learn and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
