START 2 RUN WITH JENNI FALCONER
Start 2 Run, the hugely popular running app is launching in the UK with runner and TV and Radio presenter, Jenni Falconer as the Start 2 Run Coach.
Jenni is the face and voice of the app which is ideal for people who need help getting started running as well as people who want to up their running mileage or aim for a particular running distance goal, from 5K to 7.5K, 10K, 10 miles and beyond, right up to marathon mileage.
The app launches on 16th July and is available on Apple and Android smartphone devices. Users will have Jenni with them for all their training sessions, encouraging and motivating you as you progress through your run. Jenni also provides tips and pointers to improve your running.
Jenni said: “Start 2 Run is perfect for complete beginners and people who have started running during lockdown and hit the 5K distance. Running has become a lifeline for so many of us – as our daily exercise and a way of getting some fresh air. For many people, building up to a 5K or just beginning to jog short distances has shown the joy of running and this app is the perfect coaching tool to keep you going.
“For those beginners or intermediate runners who are regular 5K runners or parkrun lovers the app gives training plans to improve your 5K time and get a parkrun PB or reach a longer distance goal.”
Another bonus of the app is the community around it, in which users can connect with each other, motivate and support each other because they are all going through the same challenges. The app has been downloaded 1,650,000 times already in its home markets Belgium and the Netherlands, and has been used for more than seven million training sessions.
There are weekly email updates from Jenni with an overview of your week’s activities
as well as a monthly blog from Jenni with more tips and thoughts for the month ahead.
Jenni continued: “We’ve all missed connecting with people during lockdown and people who would usually run with clubs or in groups like parkrun and this app really tries to make runners feel part of a virtual community.”
The app also has a unique feature which allows you to listen to music or podcasts including Jenni Falconer’s RunPod, while you run.
Jenni said: “Listening to music or podcasts is a great way to have an accompaniment
on your runs. Podcasts in particular are a great way to feel inspired by other people – some people I’ve recently interviewed have been fascinating and make some of the struggles you feel sometimes as a runner feel normal!
“Paula Radcliffe, Scummie Mummies, Katie Piper, Michelle Mone, Peter Andre, and former SAS from ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’, Ollie Ollerton and Jay Morton are just a few to mention. Hearing how other people motivate themselves and love running makes you feel like you’re not alone.
“Similarly, listening to music whilst running, can be wonderful – or if you don’t want to listen to anything, I will simply pop up to give you an update as you go along.”
The app is available from the App Store and costs £2.99 per month or £24.99 for a yearly subscription.
