Gregg Wallace is best known as the judge on BBC One’s MasterChef and Celebrity MasterChef; and BBC Two’s MasterChef: The Professionals. He has co-judged 28 series to date and has tasted more than 10,000 plates of food in the iconic MasterChef series which has been running for eleven years.
As Britain’s best known greengrocer, Gregg began his career in Covent Garden Fruit and Veg Market and in 1989 he started George Allan’s Greengrocers, a company that built up to an eventual turnover of £7.5 million.
Based on his business success, he was invited to co-present Veg Talk on BBC Radio 4 with Charlie Hicks. He was the original presenter of Saturday Kitchen in 2002 and since judging MasterChef he has presented a number of other successful returning television series including BBC One’s Harvest which returns for a second series in 2015; BBC One’s Eat Well for Less which returns for a second series next year; and BBC One’s Supermarket Secrets. He has also taken part in iconic BBC series including Who Do You Think You Are? and Strictly Come Dancing.
Gregg is well known for his sense of humour; his love of puddings and knowledge of food and restaurants; his passion for healthy living and keeping fit; his keen sense of adventure which seems him travel often and to Italy in particular; and of commitment to the sports of rugby and football. He was born in Peckham, South East London, where he first watched Millwall and remains a Millwall supporter to this day; while he gained two rugby union coaching badges and is a regular at Twickenham.
Gregg is well-loved by the press and he has fronted many successful high-profile media campaigns including Weight Watchers, and is Ambassador for The Ideal Home Show which he has been for the past five years. This, alongside his successful BBC series and his Twitter following (more than 165,000), demonstrates Gregg is a very popular media and public figure.
He now lives on the Kent coast with his teenage children Tom and Libby who he has brought up on his own, and his fiancé Anne-Marie.
Jimmy is one of the UK’s best known farmers. His journey started over 10 years ago when he took on a leasehold of a 100 acre farm just outside Ipswich which was followed in a BBC2 series called ‘Jimmy’s Farm’.
